Can I Just Say?

Is anyone else excited to see the new Fifty Shades of Grey movie? I haven't read the books but I really LOVE Jamie Dornan haha! From the trailer I think it looks really good, and I love the more sultry version of Crazy in Love by Beyonce.

Anyway, my friends and I want to see it when it comes out. It might be a cinema packed with women just like Magic Mike and one of my pet peeves at the cinema the claps and howls when the film begins will probably make an appearance, but I will ignore that and try to enjoy. Anyway I will do a film reaction when I've seen it. I watch a lot of films and I'm always honest so if I do say so myself I'm a good judge (and very modest).

Movie Review: Wild

I read a review on Wild that slated it and so I went into this movie thinking "Okay, it might not be that good because that jerky writer said so". But then I started watching and I instantly loved it, there aren't any bells or whistles, it has the raw truth of how this woman came to walking the Pacific Crest Trail

I personally love self discovery films, I am a huge fan of the film Eat, Pray, Love and this is similar but at the same time completely different. Cheryl Strayed (Reese Witherspoon) is out there to heal her grief from the loss of her mother, her character who lived to be the woman that her mother raised fell off the path after her mothers early death. Years later after sex and heroin addictions she decides to walk one of the most grueling hikes so she can deal with her grief and replenish her strength of character.

This film left me on the edge of emotion for the whole 120 minutes. I felt for her character and found the stages of her emotional reincarnation interesting. If you also love beautiful scenic views this film will provide it, the Pacific Crest Trail boast deserts, forests, mountains and snowy fields and that adds to the depth of her recovery.

If you are one who enjoys films that take you on a journey (as lame as that sounds, I do think films do this. Well they do for me haha)! Then you should go to your local cinema and see this, I don't think you'll regret.

Follow your own path

I finished University in May of last year and Graduated at the end of October and I feel the constant pressure of the job hunt. I currently am doing work experience at an Accountancy firm. So I'm not unemployed, but I need a paid job, but my question is: Why can't I do what I want?

I'm continually asked and told if I've found a job yet, what do I want to do and 'don't worry you'll find something' it's making me anxious. Since I was a little girl I wanted to sing and be in musicals. I wanted to be Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz and now I'm older I think the most important lesson from that film is FOLLOW YOUR OWN PATH and stick to your own goals. She wanted to get home and she did, she followed the yellow brick road and eventually got there with the support of her friends.

So what I say is stick to your own goals, allow people in your life to support you and give you constructive criticism. But just because someone says you can't do what you want doesn't mean you can't, only you can stop yourself from doing it. I need to stop letting the world tell me I can't do something and just do it. Listen to my instincts.

I love this quote from Eat, Pray, Love:

“There's a wonderful old Italian joke about a poor man who goes to church every day and prays before the statue of a great saint, begging, "Dear saint-please, please, please...give me the grace to win the lottery." This lament goes on for months. Finally the exasperated statue comes to life, looks down at the begging man and says in weary disgust, "My son-please, please, please...buy a ticket."

If you want it, make it happen.

I hope someone finds this useful, just writing it felt good for me. I would love to get any comments or questions back so feel free.

Je Suis Charlie

I was really inspired by the March in Paris yesterday (11/01/2015). I love the resilience of human beings and how even in the face of danger and attack we all seem to find another level of strength.

In Nigeria there has also been a deadly massacre, 2000 dead and from what I am reading they suspect it was two child suicide bombers. It is worrying how these extremists will use and brainwash anyone to support their cause. I for one have a complete respect for other races and religions but when it comes to the extremists of any of those races and religions I find it very hard not to get angry at the destruction they are laying on this earth.

I think it is really important that all people know about the dangers this world is facing and will support all people and not be blinded by hatred.
