My Favourite Looks from the Oscars 2015

1. Margot Robbie - In this Stunning Saint Laurent gown with a vintage Van Cleef & Arpels necklace. So dark and glamourous, one of the nights best.

2. Jessica Chastain - I love this Givenchy gown, the colour and the jewelled bodice make her look like an old hollywood starlet, with that beautiful, hourglass figure.

3. Emma Stone - This colour first of all looks amazing on Emma Stone, with her red locks. Ellie Saab creates such beautiful dresses and she definitely kept true to that statement with this gown.

4. Reese Witherspoon - I love block colours on Reese, and especially with her hair and make up like that. She looks gorgeous in an Armani Prive dress.

5. Rosamund Pike - Another stunning Givenchy gown, this is my favourite look of the night. As soon as I saw Rosamund gliding down the red carpet I was in love with her and her dress. This dress hugs her amazing figure, the neckline is stunning; she looks radiant.

6. Felicity Jones - She went classic in this Alexander Mcqueen gown, the beautiful high neck and full skirt really suit her classic British sensibility. I also love her hair and make up, so soft and simple.

Honourable mentions - Jennifer Hudson (in Romona Keveza) and Jennifer Aniston (in Versace. If she had done something with her hair for once, maybe she would've been up in the top 6 - she's been snubbed for the second time).

What were your favourite looks and moments from this years Academy Award, comment down below!

Top 6 Funny/Awkward Oscar Speeches

I love the Oscars, the movies, the dresses, and the sometimes awkward/hilarious speeches the winners produce. Here are six of my favourite

Sally Fields - 57th Oscars

This might be my favourite, and the look John Malkovich gives her is the cherry on top.

(Speech starts at 2:30, but skip to 3:30 for the cringe moment)

Marlon Brando & Sacheen Littlefeather - 45th Oscars

The Actors/Actresses/Directors etc love to use this platform to make political statements. I personally think they're famous so they have many platforms to make their statements, and it does give the event a different vibe. But in this case, it was to do with the film industry so I guess it kept with the theme...

(Skip to 55 seconds for the speech)

Michael Moore - 75th Oscars

Another political statement... I liked this one though, it wasn't as awkward, even though he was getting booed. Classic closing line "And any time you’ve got the Pope and the Dixie Chicks against you, your time is up. Thank you very much."

The Dixie Chicks are pretty powerful, or so I've heard...

Adrien Brody - 75th Oscars

THAT KISS THOUGH. Oh and the music at the end that he in turn cuts off.

Mo'Nique - 82nd Oscars

I get the reasoning behind this but I found it awkward and she sounded pretty aggressive for someone who just won an Oscar.

(Skip to 1:55 for the speech)

Jennifer Lawrence - 85th Oscars

I love this girl, because this is what would happen if it was me and I'm sure others can sympathise too.

(Skip to 1:20 for the speech)

There are so many more great, funny, awkward speeches... I just picked out a few that stuck out in my mind. It also kills a couple of hours if you're ever bored.

Fifty Shades of Grey Review

I saw Fifty Shades of Grey on Saturday and I personally thought it was good, not excellent but something to watch and a film that didn't bore me (it definitely kept me on my toes)! I did find it awkward watching a film like this with about 300 other people (mostly couples) why would you see this with your Boyfriend/Girlfriend?

The story line was what I expected, and I know it bred from Twilight fan fiction because a lot of the scenes reminded me of it - but less sparkly and vampirey and a lot sexier. Jamie Dornan was surprisingly good, my friends and I didn't know if he came across too nice IRL... But I personally think he nailed it and how can you not want to stare at that man for 2 hours?

So, I personally haven't read the books but my friends have and they said there were lines and scenes in the film that didn't make sense. Like him randomly saying blunt/aggressive phrases from the original text, when in the film she hadn't done anything. I heard the author E.L. James was really demanding that the original lines from the book be featured heavily in the screenplay - but that's the reason they have screenwriters and novelists because; sentences that make sense in a novel do not always make sense on the big screen...

Anyway overall it was an enjoyable watch, my advice though don't buy popcorn (I can pretty much finish a large, I only ate half) I was too distracted and it just felt wrong eating popcorn while someone was getting whipped and handcuffed in front of me. Oh, and if this is on TV in the future DO NOT WATCH IT WITH YOUR PARENTS... That's a situation that's going to be uncomfortable for everyone.

I give this film 3/5 handcuffs - aren't I funny

Anyway if you've seen it, tell me! Comment below

Top 5 Movies to watch on Valentines Day

So Valentines Day is upon us, and if you're single, taken, in a complicated situation there's always time for a movie. So here are my top 5 films to watch this coming Valentines Day!

When Harry Met Sally

This is one of the first Romantic Comedies that stuck in peoples heads, because it's so good! I recommend this for everyone. Guys will like it, girls like it, it's amazing. The chemistry between Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal is lovely and it makes you happy... Even if you're single and not enjoying it (being single that is, not the movie). Just know that this movie will be there to love and comfort you, if it comes to it (but just think: more food for you if you're single).

Reality Bites

This is not a traditional pick in anyway, I just think everyone should see this film and love it as much as I do. It stars Ethan Hawke and Winona Ryder (these two 90's standouts). It's not that romantic and it's definitely 90's in the way it's shot and the feelings the characters have. But I really love the ending, and I enjoy it because like the title suggests, reality sometimes bites and why not have a movie do the same. It's not all about fantasy, just saying. Oh and I like Ben Stiller, but not in this movie... Team Ethan.

Never Been Kissed

My friends and I use to watch this quite a lot, and always laugh (ahhh, memories). It's just an easy to watch, funny but cute film. Drew Barrymore is brilliant in this, her character is a big loser. But it just shows that you can be the loser and still get the guy, so it breeds hope for anyone really. I personally love her in this role because she's a beautiful woman and they make her seem so dorky. I think this film is a good one to watch with your boyfriend/girlfriend, it's not pure chick flick; it's definitely got some hilarious bits in it and some really, truly sad parts that maybe a lot of people can relate to. Also you see a young Jessica Alba and James Franco in it, and that's always fun.

(She also makes this hilarious laughing sound when retrieving her car, please find it funny too).

Sixteen Candles

This is a film that must be seen, I don't care if it's on Valentines Day or just on a plain old Tuesday. Molly Ringwald was the it girl of the 80's and this film is the best. The end scene. The song that plays. It's basically what I would've wanted to happen to me at school, and I think maybe a few girls would want the same thing... Don't lie! This film is a throwback but John Hughes made his films timeless, for anyone to watch. You could be a teenager with your first boyfriend and watch this, or have been married for 20 years in your 40's and still love this film... Because it makes you feel nostalgic for the good old days (I won't mention the contradictions of this, as it's a light post). So definitely check this one out, I'm pretty sure I got it for like £3... BARGAIN!

Lost in Translation

I personally don't always want to watch the cliched romantic movies. so I've thrown this one in here because I really like it. It's very quiet and the relationship between Bill Murray's character and Scarlett Johansson's is one that I think people can relate to. I like the distinction between the Japanese backdrop and the really American Bob Harris (Murray) who doesn't know what's going on, so he connects to a beautiful, cool American girl because they have no one else. I think guys and girls can enjoy this film, because not all guys like watching pure romantic movies, but this film is a good in between and is definitely worth a watch!

I hope you enjoyed this post, and hopefully I've given you some film ideas.

Comment below if you watch any of them, or just love them like I do.

Birdman Review

So Birdman has been big at the award shows and before I saw it, it had a lot of hype around it. Sometimes with films like that I don't always believe they're going to be as good as everyone says. But sometimes the hype is true, and it was with this film. I loved it, the acting from the whole cast was on point, the setting and cinematography was excellent (it won the BAFTA for best cinematography) and the story was really original.

I loved Michael Keaton as the ex-superhero movie star, as IRL Keaton was Batman in his earlier days, so I'm sure he could really relate to this character and what it's like to be seen as a 'non-serious actor' and that's why he just killed it in this role. The juxtaposition between his character Riggan Thomson and Birdman; made the film multi-dimensional, you could really sense the struggle between the two and Riggan's warped mind. I also loved the struggle between Keaton's and Edward Norton's character, the physical depiction of his role of movie star and Mike Shiners (Norton) roles as the Actor. Like I said, the whole cast was really good Emma Stone had some moments in this film that just go to me you know?

I did enjoy this film with all it's splendour and the visual impact of Keaton regressing back into the role of Birdman. It's one of the best films of the year. One of my favourites, but not my absolute. I loved Boyhood! However, this is definitely in my top 5 films and a definite must see. It does not disappoint.

I am working on a post of films to watch before the Oscars (22/02/2015)... Can't you tell I love films haha!!

Anyway, watch Birdman (click for trailer) and follow me on Twitter

Pardon.

Benedict Cumberbatch, whom I love has recently called for 49,000 men who were charged with acts of Homosexuality to be pardoned. It comes on the head of his role as Alan Turing in The Imitation Game (click for the trailer), a masterful decoder from World War Two and who was charged with gross indecency in 1952. He committed suicide in 1954 and in 2013 the Queen; after Ex Prime-Minister Gordon Brown offered an "Unequivocal apology" for what happened to him, gave him a pardon. But there are still many others that were charged like this and deserve a pardon.

These men were treated awfully, for something they could not and should not be expected to change. Among the 49,000 men who were charged 15,000 of them are still alive. They walk around with a mark on their back and I believe they and the others who have sadly died now deserve a pardon.

Glee - Season Six

So I loved Glee back in the day, the Britney episode, Madonna episode and The Rocky Horror Glee Show were among my favourite. But the last two seasons (not including The Quarterback) had lost the Glee sparkle. I boycotted season five I only watched The Quarterback and maybe two other episodes. But I was bored one Saturday morning and I noticed that season six had just started, so I was like why not... It's so good!

It has gone back to why it was so good in the first place, the glee club is the main focus point and Sue's non-stop scheming to destroy the New Directions is back. First of all, it's always good to see the original cast but I do find it annoying how unrealistic it is that they all just drop everything in their lives and travel miles to get back to Ohio (who knew plane tickets were that cheap)? But from who's left from the original cast Rachel, Kurt, Blaine, Sam, Will and Sue it has allowed different dynamics to formulate and although I miss Santana as a regular... She will always be Queen Bitch sorry Kitty; I really enjoy it.

If you have enjoyed Glee in the past, but didn't enjoy later seasons I really think that you'll like Season six. The songs are good (Alanis Morisette songs in episode two... Just saying). The quirky, comedic edge is similar to the first season and the characters are interesting and all in a transitioning period in their lives (which I relate to, and I'm sure others would too).

Thanks for reading, comment down below if you've been enjoying Season Six of Glee :)
